The very first thing is they should take the classes in high school that they need to take for them to be prepared for college. Theres nothing more sad than the senior who wakes up one morning and says my god i should have taken geometry or i should have taken an advanced english class or something. Change their schedule. As a junior they should be thinking for sure about where they want to go. They should have already taken the PSAT, they could take that as a sophomore or junior, take the SAT, talk to their counselors early in the year, and as seniors they have to apply in the fall if they want to go to a cal state or UC.
