Part 2/6 - The Jab

Veteran trainer David Martinez takes us through step-by-step the first punch in boxing: the jab. It is a useful tool to keep the opponent on the outside. Joining him in the demonstration is Beto Ibarra.

Martinez has been with the La Habra Boxing Club for nearly 30 years. During that time, he has trained many professional boxers, among them WBO (World Boxing Organization) world title holder Julio Gonzalez.

Hi im David Martinez and i have been a boxing trainer for 28 years. I have trained the likes of Julio Gonzalez, the former WBO World Champion, Number One Contender Lebrado Andrade, and Number Nine Contender Enrique Ornellis, and have been a cutman for 9 title fights. My boxing club is located in La Habra, California where individuals of all ages are welcome to come learn how to box.

when he turns around he forgets to step forward to punch. Is that how it is suppost to be? when you move around you punch with your back foot?

Jabs are worthless. You will never knock anyone out with a jab. Its all about that right hook.
