Carbide Cannon 01
By: TVScience
This video was filmed on ballistics day after school was out. Ballistics day is a break from the normal routine for my seniors in physics and features entertaining stories from my father. This video shows my father\'s carbide cannon at work. No projectiles are being fired form this cannon and proper safety precautions have been taken. The sound quality does no justice to the retort of the cannon.

This video was filmed on ballistics day after school was out. Ballistics day is a break from the normal routine for my seniors in physics and features entertaining stories from my father. This video shows my father\'s carbide cannon at work, looking straight down the barrel. The camera is positioned aroudn three feet away and it is jostled by the blast of expanding gas. No projectiles are being fired form this cannon [although an unfortunate bug did crawl down the barrel] and proper safety precautions have been taken. The sound quality does no justice to the retort of the cannon.

Ballistics day is a break from the normal routine for my seniors in physics and features entertaining stories from my father. This video shows my father\'s carbide cannon at work with commentary from my father explaining the workings of the cannon. No projectiles are being fired form this cannon and proper safety precautions have been taken. The basic chemisty: CaC2 + 2H2O → Ca(OH)2 + C2H2. The acetylene gas is flammable and then ignited with a sparker, which burns: C2H4 + 3O2 → 2H2O +2CO2. Side Note: my father belows the exhaust gases out of the cannon at the end of the video and he began to reset the cannon for a second firing but the batteries on the camera died.

About Event and Funding
By: Martha Lester
The Steves Brothers show The Gary Center the money! The competition was on! John, Donald and Mike raised $601 in tips in just 2 hours as the brothers commandeered The Pizza Club bar for charity. Who raised the most tips? That's still up for debate. The brothers packed the house with community friends such as John and Tillie Campos, who have now fallen in love with The Pizza Club, countless staff and mechanics of DSC, Kent and Liz Burrell, the Dave Schroeder and Danny Cannon families, Ed and Lori Stein, Mike and Kathy McDonnell and Bob Decious. Gary's Guild President Brenda Gomez thanked the guests for their support including Gary's Guild members. "This will be an annual event for The Gary Center. It was great of The Pizza Club to open their house to raise program dollars," said John Steves, General Manager of Don Steves Chevrolet. Tom and Linda Steves got a kick out of watching their boys work the bar but when the night was all done the dad said, "Okay boys, back to the store to make the deals!"
