GloriaAllred Gloria Allred is a famous lawyer who partook in many famous court cases. She is here with TVLesson to give us some great advice on what it takes to be a great lawyer.
Advice for future lawyers: -Study hard
-Be disciplined
-Be careful in the use of words
-Make appropriate sacrifices
-Needs to have heart
Transcription Gloria supposed somebodys out there and interested in becoming an attorney. What advice would you give them? I would say that, they need to study hard; they need to be very disciplined. They need to be very committed; they need to be very careful in the use of their words. And they need to make the appropriate sacrifices. And thats the kind of advice id give my own grandchildren as well. They need to have heart. It is not enough to be just smart. Or book learning as they say. Its not even enough to be a great debater. At least thats what I tell my grandchildren who are excellent debaters. There\'s a difference between a good attorney and a great attorney we have number of good attorneys. We dont have a lot of great attorneys. I think that the difference is people who do have heart for their clients really, really care about them 1000% dedicated to them and to their issue and theyre well prepared. And just staying in it as long as it takes. So my advice is dont go into it unless you really love it. Unless youre self discipline, willing to make the sacrifices and have a lot of heart for your clients. Thats the formula for success.

GloriaAllred Gloria Allred is a famous lawyer who partook in many famous cases. She has some great advice for up and coming attorneys and shares them with Tvlesson.com
Advice for Up and Coming Lawyers: -Know what you know and what you don\\\'t know
-Don\\\'t take cases in areas you don\\\'t know
-Stick to what you know.
Transcription For new attorneys I would say it’s really important to be extremely careful and know what you know and know what you don’t know and don’t take cases in areas you don’t know. Or you’ll have no experience and it’s just a dangerous trap. Stick to what you know. You can’t have expertise in everything. Anyone who tells me they practiced law and they will take any case to represent people in any area they’re sitting on a cake of dynamite. I only take cases within my area of expertise. I don’t care what people are willing to pay me, high profile or not it’s got to be within my area. That’s what we know that’s what we do well and anything else is very dangerous to handle. That would be my advice for new attorneys. You have to be careful in what you take. Better to say no to the wrong case so that you can say yes to the right case.

GloriaAllred Gloria Allred is a famous lawyer and has people lined up for her services. How does she pick her cases? There are crucial factors when it comes to selecting a case and these are some that Gloria Allred think are the most important.
Factors in Choosing a Case: -Within area of expertise
-Probability of success
-Is it still timely?
What are the resources?
What is the state of law/evidence?
Transcription Very carefully. We look at many many factors. We receive hundreds and hundreds of emails every week, telephone calls asking us to assist them. Obviously we are a petite law firm of 10 attorneys but we have to be very careful in which ones we are able to help and other ones we refer to someone else. Many factors go into the decision such as is it within our area of expertise? What is the probability of success? Is it still timely? What are the resources? What is the state of evidence? So we have to look at many factors and make that very difficult decision. But once we commit to a plan, we will battle for them with all of the resources and all the strength.

Transcription I think my record will speak for itself. I’m a civil rights attorney, women’s right attorney and I have fought against discrimination for my clients and injustices against my clients. For my whole legal career, I have fought for equality and equal protection from the law. So some people think that when I’m 6 feet under that my hand will be coming out with a little a sign that says at least we are all equal. So that’s the way I would like to be remembered. So what my statement is which is symbolized in the name of my book fight back and win, fight back and win my 30 year fight with injustice and how you can win your own battles. I hope that I’ll be remembered as one of those many fighters for equal rights for all. That’ll be my legacy and I\'m going to do everything possible to make sure that after I’m no longer physically present in this plant that some of that work will still continue.

Transcription Our law firm has a heavy emphasis on employee discrimination which means that we represent individuals against small and large corporations against government and against others who would discriminate against them unemployment against their age, race, religion, sexual orientation, condition of having aids or they’re wrongfully terminated or failed to be hired for other reasons. That is mainly what we do. We are happy to say the radio named us the number 1 unemployment law firm in so cal. We are also a civil rights law firm and a victim’s right law firm. In the last 2 years we have won hundreds of millions of dollars for people who have been victimized.

GloriaAllred Gloria Allred is a famous lawyer who has a fervent drive to help people less fortunate. What drives such passion? Gloria Allred talks about what helped her come this far and what her desires are when she helps people. Gloria Allred couldn’t have come this far without some kind of drive; This is her motivation.
Transcription What gave you this drive and passion to seek equal rights for people? What’s the alternative? The alternative is accepting second class citizenship for women and other minorities and that is not an alternative to me. I was taught in college if you had an opportunity to win change, if one has the desire to win change, if one has the ability to win change then that is the only moral choice you can make and I do have the opportunity, ability, and desire so that is the only moral choice I can make.

GloriaAllred Gloria Allred is a very famous lawyer who partook in some high profile cases. She gives advice on how one should choose a lawyer. There are some key variables when it comes to picking a lawyer.
How to: Choose a Lawyer -Word of mouth
-Record of success or lack of success
-Record of experience
-Educational background
Transcription I think word of mouth is very very important. In other words if they happen to know people who have had an experience of their own with a particular lawyer, I think that’s the best. It’s better than advertisement or anything else. Someone who’s actually been a client of the lawyer and cay say yes they did a great job for me. In the alternative, they should look at the record of the lawyer. For example a lot of people don’t have a record they could be proud of. So it’s one thing to talk the talk but it’s another to walk the walk. For example people can look at our record. Victories in so many cases and high profile cases and of course we have many many cases we can’t talk about because they are confidential and wouldn’t talk about them. But look at the record of success because I think that speaks for itself or lack of success. Look at the record of experience. Look at the education of the background of the attorney. I think look at all those can get a pretty good idea. One should also make sure there are no disciplinary proceedings that have begun by the state bar. So I think doing a little research is definitely mandatory.
